House of Cake to host culinary event
Learn to make a bearded iris and southern magnolia gum paste flowers at the "Special Day with Gum Paste" event to be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 or 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at 116 Terry Lane, Oak Ridge.

Williams-Sonoma hosts classes
Four cooking classes, and four technique classes will be held in February at Williams-Sonoma, 7600 Kingston Pike. The cooking classes include "All About Chocolate," (Feb. 6, $55) with a menu of spicy chocolate cakes, bittersweet chocolate cake, petits pots de creme au chocolat, crisp chocolate bites and chocolate espresso bars and "New Orleans Favorites," (Feb. 28, $55) featuring a menu of Cajun shrimp, black eyed peas and brown rice, spicy seafood and sausage gumbo and classic southern pralines. All cooking classes are held from 6-8 p.m. and require registration by calling 865-539-1070. The free technique classes are held at noon Sundays. These events include "Big Bowls of Chili," (Feb. 5), "Winter Vegetables," (Feb. 12), "Knife Skills," (Feb. 19) and "Fresh, Fast and Easy Pasta, (Feb. 26).
Health series to be held at libraries
The Knox County Health Department and the Knox County Library have partnered in offering a variety of health-oriented seminars. "Lunch and Learn" is the name of the series which features a light lunch to be served while guests enjoy the following events. Attendees should call 865-215-5160 to reserve a lunch. The Do’s and Don’t of Exercise: Guest will learn valuable fitness facts and how to make the most of your workout. UT Culinary Kitchen offers classes
Eight internationally-themed cooking classes will be held at the University of Tennessee’s Culinary Kitchen, 2712 Neyland Ave. Cost for each class is $99.
Feb. 4: Korean cuisine instructed by Dr. Youn-Kyung Kim, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Feb. 11: Italian cuisine presented by Chef Christin Love from Bella Luna, 9 a.m.-1 p.m..
Feb. 18: Irish cuisine led by Chef Garrett Scanlan of Garrett’s Downtown Deli, 9 a.m.-1 p.m..
Feb. 25: Liberian cuisine led by lead chef at Palavah Hut, 9 a.m.-1 p.m..
March 3: Japanese sushi presented by chefs from Nama, 9 a.m-1 p.m..
March 10: German cuisine with Chef Edgar Hermann, former executive chef of Legends Country Club, 2-6 p.m..

Glass Bazaar hosts classes
The winter cooking class schedule at the Glass Bazaar has been released. "French Bistro," with Chef Garrett Scanlan (6 p.m., Feb. 8, $48) with a menu of salade Belle Maria, escallope of pork Milanaise, stuffed zucchini and banana flambe; and "Signs of Spring," with Chef John Bryant (6 p.m., March 14, $48), featuring a menu of spring asparagus and blue cheese soup, slow braised lamb shank with roasted root vegetables, Yukon potato puree and natural reduction and bourbon chocolate mousse cups with strawberry basil compote.
